After an absence of two years, Argentinean stamps will be returning to the fair Collector in Prague which is held on September 16 - 18th. They were first presented in 2003 by the representative of the Argentine Post Office, Mr.Carlos Fogolin. This time they will be represented at collector in the extensive exhibition of Mr.Daniel Hugo Mello Teggia from Buenos Aires. Naturally, visitors will also be able to buy stamps and postcards from other South American countries e.g. Brasil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Bolivia and Peru.
The Africa Mint from Benin shows that numismatics exist even in Africa. The mint began to mint high-quality commemorative coins in short runs with the theme of west African fauna in 2003. This was immediately followed by a series of coins with famous African presidents in a run of 500. This year the mint has issued bimetal coins for Benin with the theme of the Olympic Games in Peking 2008 and to commemorate the visit of Pope John Paul II, and for Niger with the theme of stopping malaria. All the issues have a run of 1200. At the stand, Africa Mint will offer a commemorative coin issued for the occasion of the Prague trade fair Collector.
One of the traditional exhibitors at the trade fair is the Slovene firm Phila from Ljubljana. It was established in 1990, and its owner has more than 45 years of great experience in philately. Phila specialises in the sale and purchase of postal history, in the occupation during the Second World War and on the areas of the former Yugoslavia.
The German firm Euronumix from Düsseldorf will certainly provoke great interest amongst visitors, because it specialises in the coins of small states, primarily Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City. At its stand, not only the common circulation euro coins of these countries will be available, but so will commemorative coins and medals. The firm will be exhibiting at the trade fair Collector for the first time. In the field of numismatics, Jean-Paul Andre from France and Münzhandlung Richard Mandusic from Munich will also be having their premiere this year.
This year, the Bratislava firm Zberateľ, which this year celebrates ten years from its establishment, will appear at the trade fair for the first time. It manufactures album pages of the Slovak Republic and Czechoslovakia (CSR) in the format A4, it issues the magazine Zberateľ and Netto catalogues of Slovak stamps. It also trades in stamps, postal stationery and full covers, coins and banknotes from the entire world.
The Czech Curiosity Collectors Club brings together more than 900 members. Every year at the Collector trade fair, they present exhibitions in certain non-traditional fields of collecting. This year on Friday, the guests at the club’s stand will be collectors of game pieces, on Saturday there will be model car collectors, and Sunday will focus on collectors of packaged sugar. Visitors will not only be able to inspect the exhibits, but also to buy them. On all three days, a 1922 Praga Mignon car from the collection of E. Příhoda, will be on display as part of the club’s exhibit.
