The German Federal Philatelic Auctioneers Association (BDB) will be participating at the international trade fair Collector, which will be held in Prague from 16 to 18 September, for the first time as an exhibitor. BDB brings together up to fifty of the most important philatelic auction firms which act in public. In the association, the members combine their expert competence with a high standard of auction trading, which is regulated by a binding code of conduct.
Filatelie Baru, which has shops at two addresses in Brno, has decided to go to the Prague trade fair for the very first time. At Collector it will offer not only postage stamps, but also coins, bank notes, awards and postcards. And collectors of figurines from Kinder eggs will finally come into their own, because Mr Baru is one of the largest traders in this field. His exhibition is also augmented by other collectables such as posters, graphics, enamelled advertising signs, old toys and antiques.
The brothers Otari and Georgios Kaouslidis from Greece are now traditional exhibitors at the Prague trade fair. They started at Collector only with telephone cards but after they opened a collector’s shop in Thessaloniki, they expanded their range to include coins, banknotes, medals and expert literature, and they will be offering all of this in Prague this year.
For the international trade fair Collector, the Czech Post is issuing postcards of category A displaying a commemorative medal for this year’s 650th anniversary of the coronation of the Czech King Charles IV as Holy Roman Emperor, who by coincidence also came first in the television survey for the Best Czech. On all the days, a special postmark and R-sticker will be available to collectors at the stand of the Czech Post Office, and on 18th September there will be a special postmark for United Nations Day.

The Union of Czech Philatelists is not only one of the regular exhibitors, but in addition to the Czech Post and the Czech Numismatic Society, it has also held the aegis over the trade fair for seven years. It utilises the trade fair as an opportunity for members to meet and for meeting foreign partners. The members of the experts’ committee also provide visitors with a free advisory and expert service in the field of philately. The UCP is a founder member of the International Philatelic Organisation (FIP) and Federation of European Associations (FEPA). It brings together up to 500 philately clubs, 150 groups of young philatelists and dozens of specialised expert associations, committees and sections.
