UNPA will have its day at the trade fair

The traditional exhibitor at Collector - the United Nations Postal Administration - will once again celebrate United Nations Day on Sunday 12th September along with the visitors to the trade fair. On this occasion, a special rubber stamp (see picture) will be available to collectors at the Czech Post Office stand, and the UNPA will once again have a cachet prepared. According to Mrs Leone Caola-Madzia from the Vienna headquarters of the UN, the Collector trade fair in Prague is wholly comparable with similar events in Western Europe.

Mr Pateman returns

Last year Mr Pateman from Brighton in England participated at the trade fair for the first time. And he was highly satisfied with his stand, where he sold philatelic material for a flat price of five euros. As he told us when he handed over the application for this year's event, he was also highly satisfied with the organisation of the trade fair. For both of these reasons he has significantly expanded his participation this year.

Australian and Irish Post Office for seventh time

The Polish philatelic firm and agency Profilex from Tuszyn has been participating at the trade fair every year from the very beginning. And naturally it will not be absent this year either. It officially represents the postal administrations of Australia and Ireland at the trade fair. It not only offers their postage stamps at face value, but also maxicards and stamp yearbooks. On its stand, Profilex also traditionally offers the latest material from Angola, Fiji, Gibraltar, Guernsey, Guinea-Bissau, the Isle of Mann, New Zealand, Norfolk Island, Papua New Guinea, Pitcairn, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.

Kannebäckerland at the trade fair for the first time

The German philatelic sho Kannenbäckerland from Ransbach-Baumbach in the Federal state of Rheinland-Pfalz will have its premiere at the Collector trade fair this year. On its large stand it will offer postage and revenue stamps not only from Germany, but also from other countries. Entire collections at advantageous prices will also be included in the offer.

Philatelic press at trade fair

The largest Czech philatelic magazine, Filatelie, will have a stand at the trade fair as it traditionally does. The magazine is issued monthly with a print run of six thousand and it is an indispensable and useful aid for all philatelists in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. This year the German magazine Briefmarken Spiegel, which traditionally participates in all the important philatelic events in Germany, will also have a stand at Collector.

Telephone cards from South Africa

This year another exhibitor in the field of telephone cards will be joining the Association of Collectors of Japanese Telephone Cards from Tokyo, about whose premiere we gave information in the last bulletin. This is the firm South African Phonecards of Mr Hennie Botha from Pretoria, which will offer telephone cards of most African states.

The proportion of postcards increases

The proportion of exhibitors offering historical postcards at the trade fair increases every year. In addition to traditional exhibitors, such as Michal Matura from Ostrava, Richard Burda from Střelice u Brna, Evžen Majoroš and Filatelie FOS from Prague, this year there will be many others. Just some of those who have already applied are Jan Bartošík from Adamov, Filatelie a bazar U Mamuta from Pardubice and Sběratelský kabinet a Filatelie Podskalský from Prague.

Aurea Numismatika once again

After last year's first appearance, the Prague numismatic firm and auction house Aurea Numismatika is returning to the trade fair once again this year. The firm gained fame last year with an auction of unique Russian mintings from the collection of the trader Antonín Prokop. At this auction, for example, a test minting of a Tsarina Anne rouble from 1730 minted in a run of only 36 was sold for the incredible amount of five million Czech crowns (see picture). This rouble thus became the most expensive Russian coin ever sold in the world.

Closing date at the end of May

The closing date for applications to this year's international trade fair Collector is 31st May. Exhibitors who apply by that date are guaranteed that they will be located in the relevant fields where they belong, i.e., philatelists in the philately section, numismatists in numismatics etc. Naturally, exhibitors can also apply after this date, but unfortunately we cannot guarantee them the appropriate location. The exhibition hall, with an area of almost 5000 m² and eleven thousand visitors await you.
