International Collector Trade Fair In 2010
In 2010, the international Trade Fair Collector will be held for the thirteenth time, from Thursday 2nd to Saturday 4th of September,at the exhibition center PVA Letňany in Prague 9, which has proven to be a very good location. The exhibition center can be reached comfortably using the metro or by car via the artery road off the motorway from Teplice/Dresden (where on-site parking facilities are available). Of course, exhibitors and visitors alike will again enjoy the pleasant restaurants and cafés at the exhibition center. This means visitors will be able to spend the whole day pleasantly at the fairground.
We anticipate that the number of exhibitors at the upcoming trade fair will again climb to about 240 (for a list of last year's exhibitors, see the menu bar on the left), and that the number of visitors will exceed the 11 000 mark. In line with the already well-established tradition, entry will be free for young people below 18 years of age and for all women. This trade fair - the largest collecting trade fair in the CEE region - will be open to the general public on the first two days from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For detailed information aimed at visitors and exhibitors, including fees, please check the bar on the left side of the screen.
50th Anniversary Issue Of Our News Bulletin
You are reading our fiftieth anniversary issue of the news bulletin right now! We began reporting trade fair news in November 2003, still on the old website. Today, our bulletin is not devoted to the trade fair alone, but also to aspects of the collecting phenomenon as such (Note: this material is available in Czech only). You can find all fifty back issues of the bulletin even now, in the "Archive" section.
How Much Do The Czechs Spend On Collecting?
On the last Collector Trade Fair in 2009, a random sample of 360 visitors took part in our anonymous and exclusive survey, which concerned not only the trade fair itself, but also the investments made into the hobby of collecting. Among other things, the survey showed that one fifth of visitors spent between five to ten thousand crowns at the Collector Trade Fair; five per cent of visitors spent approx. CZK 50 000. Responses to the question "How much do you invest into your pastime per year?" showed that the average Czech collector spends annually up to CZK 5 000, but 16.4% of the respondents invest as much as ten to fifty thousand crowns, and 12.2% of the respondents even more. These are unprecedented findings for the Czech Republic, and the results are quite inspirational - especially for commercial traders.
Additional Results Of Our On-Site Survey At The 2009 Fair
As regards the trade fair itself, the survey among 360 anonymous respondents has revealed a number of pleasant facts. For instance, the scheduling of the event (which, beginning as of 2009, has been moved to the beginning of September and lasts from Thursday through to Saturday) finds the approval of almost 88.6 % of visitors. 95.8 % of visitors are set on returning next year. Eighty per cent of respondents find that the overall standard of the trade fair is excellent or very good. The survey confirmed that the trade fair is not only a national event, but has significance and renown across the Central European region. Two of three visitors were from out of Prague, and every sixth came from abroad, primarily from Germany, Slovakia, Poland, Great Britain, and Russia. 36.7% of visitors traveled more than 100 km to come to Prague. On the trade fair, the greatest interest was in philately and numismatics. 37.5% of respondents put philately at the center of their collecting interests, followed by coins, medals, and banknotes (34.3%), postcards (12,6 %), phone cards, gemstones, and minerals. In 2009, 11 500 collectors visited the trade fair.
Chinese Picture Postcards on the fair 2010
Our friend and longtime exhibitor Mr. Xu Wei from China promotes the trade fair Collector 2010 at the picture postcards, which is distributing already since September. The face of the postcard shows a map of the Central Bohemia and Prague from the 17th century, on the back there is a logo of the Collector. Thank you very much, Mr.Wei! We wish to have more such enthusiastic and gratuitous friends of our trade fair!
