The 2012 Trade Fair Sběratel (Collector) was the biggest in its history!

The International Trade Fair „Collector“ had been very successful among visitors and exhibitors who traditionally come every year and this year was no exception. It was a jubilee 15th year. While the number of visitors and exhibitors of other trade fairs continue to decrease, the Trade Fair Collector was visited by more than 12 thousand people and the exposition space rose to its biggest in its history. The 268 exhibitors from 35 countries, who filled 3 exhibition halls was a record number.

There were a lot of new exhibitors this fair jubilee year. In the field of philately there were, for instance: Partenophil company, Lichtenstein post, Fauna Stamps, Poste Italiane, Veraphil or China National Philatelic Corporation . Also a number of regular exhibitors registered for the exhibition, took part: Deutsche post, Wim Van Der Bijl, United Nations Postal Administration, Slovak post , Hanmart, Kniffka and others.

For the first time there was also a company representing collection wide focused only on motion-pictures and comics. The company-Comics Point offered figurines of different size, commemorative movie objects, and precious comics. This „young“ collector´s field, which is popular mostly overseas, is still looking for collectors and the Fair Collector is a significant helper.

The one kilo pure gold medal was sold at auction for
1.450.100,-CZK!

Investor has lured new visitors

Running concurrently with the fair Collector was the second year of the Trade Fair Investor. This fair takes aim mostly at wealthy clientele. The Investor is the only fair which offers visitors a chance to invest into gold, coins, medals, high value stamps or bank notes. Other interesting investing commodities were able to be seen at other exhibits, known from previous years – e.g. Prague Mint, Czech Mint, National Treasury and also at the new exhibits – e.g. Soliter, Carl Schaefer or Hungarian Mint. The Investor is not only sale exhibition but also a place where there is a chance to meet and start to cooperate with business partners. The hightlight of the exhibition was the ceremonial revelation and the subsequent auction of the one-kilo gold medal of Golden Bull of Sicily at the stand of the National Treasury. The profit from the auction was donated to The Institute for the Care of Mother and Child.

Jewels for Michelle Obama at the the Prague Gem & Mineral Show

The youngest newcomer into „Collector´s“ family of Prague Trade Fairs was the first year of the International Trade Fair „the Prague Gem & Mineral Show“, which took place at the same time as the Collector and the Investor. Exhibitors from the Czech Republic, Italy, Germany and India took part in this fair focusing on business with minerals, gemstones, jewels, pearls and components for self-made work.

The sale exhibition of top-class jewel maker Paolo Mazzeschi from Italy was a part of the fair. His jewels adornet a number of celebrities among which are Michelle Obama and Carla Sarkozy. Jewel experts were also working at the fair. One could have gold jewels or gemstones appraised by independent experts from the company Mineral & Gem and also from the Assay Office Praha.

To support the fair attendance we cooperated with cosmetics fair World of Beauty & Spa, which took place at the exhibition grounds in the next hall. Ladies visiting the cosmetics fair had admission to „the Prague Gem & Mineral Show“ as well as to „the Collector“ and „the Investor“ for free.

The Fair Collector has its own stamp and unique silver medaillon!

The International Fair „Collector“ has become such a prestigious place for collectors from all over Europe that it has its own postal stamp. A quite new service of the Czech Post has been launched in this years fair – the stamp, whose design can be created by the company or person who commissions it. At first, it was commercially used by the editor of Philately magazine. It edited its own sheet of stamps related to important philatelistic events, among which was the Fair Collector. The Prague Mint also prepared an unique silver medaillon with the logo of Collector 2012, which was available for purchase during the Fair. It has been the first time to have such an official medaillon.

The first sheet of stamps with its own design in
the history of philately was presented by František
Beneš (middle), the editor of Philately magazine
and the person who commissined, Břetislav Janík,

On the occassion of the 15th fair anniversary
Prague Mint issued the collector´s rarity – a silver
medaillon. The number of copies has been limited
by 399 pcs.

What did the visitors see?

Also this year only at the Collector, there were launch ceremonies, competitions and ceremonial revelations of collectors´ novelties. The postal card dedicated to Harley Davidson Club Prague (the oldest Harley Davidson club in the world) was launched together with a book of stamps „the World-Class Cars“ in the presence of the artist Maestro Václav Zapadlík.

For this occasion the Prague HD dealer lent two fairly new motobikes to be displayed and 30 others, driven by the club members, could be seen during the three-hour signing in front of the entrance hall.

hundreds of visitors who came to see the launch

Club Prague. Michal Stach then stamped the postal
cards, for those who were interested, by his own
club stamp, so-called „cachet“.

A part of the book of stamps „the World-Class Cars“ is also the Czech clasic Wikov 70, which visitors could also see at the fair. It is a unique model, which is valued at over 12million CZK! Besides the stamps there was also a launch ceremony for the book of stamps „Orchid Beauty“ with an auto theme presence, a engraver Martin Srb and designers Mr. and Mrs. Knotek.

There was another interesting event for visitors during the fair – the presence of the famous gold medal Olympian Věra Čáslavská, who signed autographs at the European Numismatic Association.

The company-NumisCollect presented an interesting numismatic collector´s rarity – a coin with characters of Čtyřlístek from the Czech comics. It has been edited in Holland and it is possible to pay with it officially at Cook Islands.

The book of stamps „World-Class Cars“ was
launched not only by Břetislav Janík and Václav

Minister of Industry and Trade (left).

There was an opportunity to buy the book of
stamps titled „Orchid Beauty“ at the stand of
the Czech Post. It is interesting to know that
the „model“ flowers were from a green house in
Kobylisy, Prague.

Proceeds in the amount of CZK 7,500, which earned
charity “Čtyřlístek” coin auction on Aukro portal,
was presented at the stand of Aukro. From left:

issued a commemorative medal in hours of her
birthday which was available at the Fair Collector.
